When can the Contractor make claim for final payment? During or after Defects Liability Period? I know a percentage of retentions are released at Practical Completion, which would suggest that Final Payment Claim can't be made until after the Defect Liability Period? Thanks.

Hi amy,
it is after defects liability period, usually within 1 month after defects liability. For more details, read Final Payment section of NZIA SCC, u shall get a clear idea about it.
Hope this helps.
Also, i have been in touch with NZRAB, the committee is going to fine tune few experience areas on 9th december and there going to be some changes to our case-study criteria.
Hope this helps,
Best luck, aB

Hi amy,
Sorry i got a bit confused...final payment claims should be after issue of practical completion certificate by the architect and when suggested in specific conditions of contract...which is generally 1month from issue of practical completion certificate.
Remaining retentions are released after defects liability certificate.
