Cursorily, NZS 3910 appears to be more comprehensive than SCC, in particular with regards to definitions and Standard Conditions of Contract. As proforma for private residential projects, straight off the bat SCC would be used. What would your answer be, to a Client who asks, what is the advantage of using SCC over 3910?

There is little difference between SCC (later versions) and NZS3910. If anything SCC is more up to date as 3910 has not been amended for some time. One of the big differences is in the Insurance clauses where SCC has been completely rewritten to reflect the insurance products available in NZ. This was carried out last year. Gennerally builders used to doing architects work are perhaps more familiar with SCC and that is an advantage.
