How do you manage wanting to gain more site experience and observation on site, while there are restrictions on charge out fees and how much time you can charge for being on site? This is when you are not managing the time/cost yourself but are one of the few people on the job who are / will be continuing site observation. (The site is still in its main structural phase, but with first-fix services happening on the lower floors).

Always a tough question! Gaining experience across all categories is a common challenge for graduates, You should talk to your project architect or Director about this, and gain an understanding of the level of observation your commission includes. While it is a matter of policy from office to office I personally support the idea that all staff should have good understanding of fees and how this relates to scope of services and time in tasks. There are still good things to look at on site during the phase of the works you describe- floor level tolerances for example, and there may be a lot of shop drawings to go through too. Are there any services installation clashes that need resolving?

Thank you Richard,

Yes indeed there are already services clashes already happening within the shop drawings, which we have picked up prior to being on site. I have also arranged a meeting with one of the associates here to discuss fee/site experience strategies for our studio.

The site has been updated. This is a test.
