The Seminar Series

The core of the seminar programme are the Introductory Seminars, held at at the beginning of the year and the Experience Area Workshops presented by leading architects throughout the year.

Introductory Seminars

New Zealand Registered Architects Board Requirements
Our Introductory Seminars held at the beginning of the year provide an overview of the Assessment Process presented by NZRAB assessors. A must for new GDP members and a great refresher for all GDP members. In 2010 the Experience Areas are being re-structured to make them more logical and to help registration applicants prepare their case study.

Case Study Preparation
When you apply for registration you must submit a comprehensive case study based on the experience areas with your application. This topic is part of the Introductory Seminars and gives you practical tips on how to get started. They are presented by recently Registered Architects and are suitable for GDP members who are planning to apply for registration soon.

Review of Experience Areas
An overview, or introduction to the Experience Areas, as defined by the NZRAB, are also given by our core team of presenters. More in-depth seminars on the Experience Areas are given in the Experience Area Workshops. See below

Experience Area Workshops

In 2010 the  Experience Areas have been refined  to make them clearer and more logical, to help applicants prepare their cases. They are the professional areas you need experience in and knowledge of to become a Registered Architect in New Zealand  Experience Areas

The NZIA APL Seminar Series for 2010 will present the re-organised Experience Areas at their seminars and workshops.

The Experience Area Workshops are presented by leading NZ architects - John Coop - Director or Warren & Mahoney, Christina van Bohemen - Director Sills van Bohemen Architects and Craig Moller - Director Moller Architects. GDP members are fortunate to have their professional knowledge and experience.

The workshop is held over a Friday evening and Saturday  at - Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown  locations. All of the Experience Areas are covered in these two days explaining what each Professional area is and giving practical and anecdotal examples of how they work in practice. The experience areas are covered once a  year at a  location near you, so make sure you get along to these seminars.

Professional Conversation Workshops

For Graduates that have applied for registration and submitted their case studies, the next step is the Professional Conversation. The Workshops help applicants prepare for the Professional Conversation and develop communication skills.  Graduates are able to discuss approaches to presenting their case study with other regisration applicants and an NZRAB asssesor also presents at the workshops..
